Obviously I've gone on a HP3S6 kick as of late.

I finished this off at the Texas gather, just got round to taking pictures and uploading them.

Very nice work. At the moment, I too am on a HP3-1S6 (trying to make a bracer). I like the sword as well. How well do the EPDM rings hold up to the edge or is there no EPDM on the side?

(if I felt like figuring it out, I'd make that a link but i'm not sure how to do it so, o well :D)

The EPDM has held up quite well so far. Granted #1 I haven't drawn the sword too many times and #2 there's no live edge. However I'm not sure that's too important.

I used (4) 3/4 Persian joins, front and back and sides. The 3/4 Persian on the sides present the BA and AA rings to the sword edge and not the EPDM. (The EPDM is presented to the sword on the front and back)

If anything I'd worry about dulling a live edge or cutting through the soft aluminum rings over many draws.

Great work, but wouldn't the sword stick in the rings as you sheath it, or is there something inside preventing that?

Actually no, the sword draws and sheaths quite well. The way I wove the edges [link] the rings overlap each other on the inside and make a decent surface so the tip doesn't grab. You do have to have it reasonably lined up but that's it.

Wow that is quite impressive. And that it is made from persian. How long did that take?

Wish I had a clue. It started out as another project then morphed into this one. Then it sat in the unfinished pile while I worked on other projects. Then I decided to add the red and black diamonds so I ended up letting it lay around again until I ordered more rings....... I finally drug it out at the last Texas gather I went to and just powered through it.

Maybe 60-80 hours labor but that is just a wild guess.

Aye, that is a long time. It looks amazing though. I would not have had the patience to continue working on that after putting it down so many times. Kudos to you!
